The Buffalo River at Tyler Bend

Silver Hill Canoe Rental

An authorized concessionaire of the
Buffalo National River

Since its creation in 1970 the Buffalo National River, located in Northern Arkansas Ozarks, has become a favorite vacation destination. With its clear spring fed water, and towering limestone bluffs ( the tallest between the Appalachians and the Rockies) the Buffalo River is the classic Ozark float stream.

Silver Hill Canoe Rental is located on US 65, in the Middle District of the Buffalo National River, and is convenient to the Tyler Bend Visitor Center and Campground.

Owner "Mac" McClain was born on the Buffalo, and prides himself in providing the finest service on the river. Because it is a small canoe rental, run by down home folks, Silver Hill Canoe Rental gives you the individual service others can't. Would you like to bring your pet?  At Silver Hill Canoe rental it's no problem. Silver Hill Canoe Rental is convenient to several river access points, which makes it possible to offer trips lasting from few hours to a week or more.

The Middle District of the Buffalo National River offers year round floating and some of the most beautiful bluffs on the Buffalo. During the Spring, water levels tend to be higher, and the rapids offer an exciting ride. Summer time generally means lower water levels suitable for families.

The Parks growing Elk herd are becoming an increasingly common site in the Middle District. The bottom land hay fields in the park, have proven to be ideal Elk habitat, and we can look forward to more and more frequent sightings in the coming years. Other types of wildlife you may see include Deer, Turkey, Mink, Beaver, Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles (eagles use the river seasonally in the winter).

The Buffalo Rivers cool oxygenated water, gravel bottom and boulders are ideal Smallmouth Bass habitat. The Buffalo River is classified by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as one of Northern Arkansas two Blue Ribbon Smallmouth Streams (the other is Crooked Creek). Bring your fishing pole, but remember to practice catch and release, so others may enjoy this extraordinary resource.
